Attention ALL Peters Families
Starting May 11th, the City of Plantation will be closing down the swale (grassy dirt area located adjacent to the school’s front fence), on 68th Avenue due to safety concerns and damage to the swale/road.
All traffic for drop-off and pick-up will need to use the 70th Avenue entrance. This entrance brings you into the car loop and along the front of the school and back out to 70th Avenue.
Currently, some students are designated as walkers, but are picked up and/or dropped off by a car on the 68th Avenue side of the school. This will no longer be a possibility, as 68th Avenue will not be an option for parking, dropping off and/or picking up students starting on May 11th. No child will be dismissed from the 68th Avenue entrance unless they are truly walking or riding their bicycle home.
If you drop your children off in the street along 68th Avenue please know that it is against city ordinance to do so. As such, the Plantation Police will enforce this, as they have throughout the school year. For you, this will mean establishing a new routine for drop off and pick up.
If this change affects you and your child, please take action before May 11th. You should first inform your child’s teacher in writing that your child will be a car rider starting May 11th or sooner. You should then begin to use the 70th Avenue entrance/ car loop for drop off/pick up.
As we make this transition, city officials will be monitoring our traffic flow. Please be aware that making a left turn out of the school onto 70th Avenue is prohibited during arrival and dismissal times. This will also be enforced starting May 11th to ensure that our arrival and dismissal continues to be one of the quickest among Broward County Schools.
